Extract of Dr Chin's speech for the signing of MOU for GCE 'O' Level Program

TMC is extremely honoured to being bestowed upon this unique privilege by University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate to be the first training provider in China for this highly renowned program in what is probably the world's biggest educational market.

With China's entry into WTO, the 2008 Olympic Games to be staged in Beijing, and the determined efforts of the nation's leaders to forge China as a leading international citizen, there is an urgent need for English to be taught at all levels in the country. In particular, there are over 17 million Junior Middle Three graduands not awarded places to study in Senior Middle Three classes. TMC's mission is to tap on this vast potential group by offering comprehensive, effective and relevant quality education in English, starting initially with "O"-level subjects. The teaching will be delivered through schools and teaching centres handpicked by TMC for their experience and professionalism. Students weak in English will undergo supportive linguistic courses of up to six months before they begin their "O" level studies

The introduction of the GCE examination program from the University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate is an important alternative progression path for those who have completed the Junior Middle 3, the initial 9 years compulsory education, and others to qualify for a good career as well as for their pursuit of higher education.
