Business Communications

This module enables the individual to improve his/ her skills in interpersonal communication such as oral and written communication. It also enables the individual to review and understand their own behaviour and performance, with a view to improve their future learning ability. It provides a good foundation for the individual to acknowledge his own strength and weakness in communication.

Introduction to Management

This module develops an understanding of the characteristics of business and organizations, and their advantages and disadvantages. Understand the functions and roles of mangers, the major functional areas of business. Analyse the theories of management, motivation and leadership in a business organisation and understand both the internal and external environmental elements in which businesses operate and their impact on business organisation.

Fundamentals of Marketing

This unit deals with basic concepts of marketing and also introduces the students to marketing strategy and methods. This module stresses gaining the required marketing knowledge and skills that would form the foundation to build on advanced marketing-based units at a higher level. It also provides scope for application of marketing strategy and methods through case discussion.

Introduction to IT

The purpose of this unit is to develop an understanding of the basics of computing and IT systems. It will also develop the competency of the students in the use of the Microsoft Windows operating system and some common business software packages such as Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint.

Quantitative Skills

This module covers basic quantitative techniques that can be applied in various business disciplines. The module focuses particularly on the field of economics. The module will enable students to analyze, interpret and utilize information for decision-making purpose. It provides the necessary foundation for students who wish to pursue undergraduate studies in business.

Principles of Accounting

This unit covers the basic accounting concepts and conventions, procedures and the appropriate systems used for recording the business transactions, how to prepare a final statements and cash budget and analyse a financial report.
