TMC School of Information Technology - The place to LEARN TMC Computer School was established in 1981. It was renamed to TMC Academy - School of Information Technology in 2005. The school has grown since its sole diploma programme in 1984 to its present range of pre-degree, undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. The School currently offers courses in areas such as computing, information technology, networking, web development, animation and games design which are all in demand in the infocomm industry. Over the years students from varied social and ethnic backgrounds have come together here to study and be part of the TMC family. Such a gathering reflects the exciting environment that awaits potential students. The School of IT has a strong team of full-time lecturers as well as a pool of part-time lecturers who are professionals from the IT industry. The team of lecturers is knowledgeable, dedicated, professional and responsible. They are committed to providing the best education for students. The team of academia provides a varied method of delivery to maximise the learning outcome of the students. They learn through lectures, tutorials, practical sessions, discussion, group work and more. Currently all our diplomas and higher diplomas are validated by Cambridge International Exams (CIE) and are jointly awarded by CIE and TMC. CIE is renowned worldwide for its work in education and assessment quality. This adds immense value to our diplomas and higher diplomas making them recognized internationally by universities all over the world. The School also organises seminars or talks by industry practitioners or speakers from partner universities. Field trips are also scheduled as activities on certain days of a semester. The students also have the opportunity to join the IT Club which is part of the TMC Student Club. Here students organise and participate in IT-related events. Through these they will gain leadership, management and organisational skills which will benefit them as they become IT professionals in the near future. Counseling sessions are also provided to help students cope with their studies. Problems like exam stress and loneliness can arise. Should there be such problems; students are encouraged to attend such sessions in an effort to be more positive and confident. Top student awards and merit awards are also up for grabs for students who excel in their studies. These are to recognise the hard work and discipline involved. We believe that consistent effort and strong determination are important for success and our lecturers are there to guide and encourage everyone. At the School of IT, we are committed to supporting and helping students throughout their learning journey with us.
Our Lecturers - Masters of WISDOM The School of IT has one of the largest numbers of full-time faculties among the private education organisations in Singapore. A majority of lecturers hold at least a Masters degree with years of educational and related working experience. Their dedication to teaching extends beyond the classroom to tutorials and meetings, and interaction through electronic mail. All lecturers are registered with the Council for Private Education (CPE) and are also approved by the respective university partners prior to the teaching of the undergraduate or postgraduate programmes.
