 Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Tourism Industry Management


Tourism is a vast industry and, for graduates it offers varied and plentiful opportunities. Employers seek individuals with a combination of vocational and management skills and this course provides them.  This degree allows students to evaluate and apply relevant concepts associated with the operational and strategic management of financial, human and physical resources within the context of the tourism industry.


 Programme Objectives


The degree aims to:

  • Development of knowledge in tourism
  • Understand the need for a multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary approach to the study of Tourism Industry Management
  • Understand the moral, ethical and legal issues which underpin best practice in the tourism sector
  • Understand the concepts and characteristics of tourism as an area of academic and applied study
  • Demonstrate an awareness of the dynamic nature of tourism in modern societies
  • Analyse the relationship between the customer and the service provider
  • Develop greater understanding and knowledge of the products, structures and interactions of the different sectors of the tourism industry
  • Develop key transferable skills including communication and problem solving

 Programme Design


This degree is designed to be delivered over a period of 12 months in full-time mode, and over eighteen months in part-time mode.  The academic year is based on two semesters, with students studying 2 or 3 modules per semester depending on their mode of study.


Course Duration:
- Full-time 12 months
- Part-time 18 months

 Programme Delivery


This programme is wholly delivered in Singapore.  Students will have access to local lecturers and the on-line resources provided by the University of Gloucestershire.

These will be a combination of lectures, tutorials, seminars, presentations and sessions in computer laboratories where appropriate.  Students will also be given additional work to complete outside of the scheduled classes.

Resources materials provided for students will include lecture notes and references  for further reading in books, professional journals, publications, articles and websites. 

Modules are assessed by means of examination and/or coursework.

  • TMC Higher Diploma in Hospitality and Tourism Management
  • Advanced Diploma in related discipline
  • Relevant Polytechnic Diplomas (see below)
  • Other equivalent qualifications

Ngee Ann Polytechnic:  Diploma in Tourism & Resort Management

Singapore Polytechnic:  Diploma in Tourism & Resort Management

Temasek Polytechnic:  Diploma in Hospitality & Tourism Management,  Diploma in Leisure & Resort Management

Other similar Polytechnic Diplomas will also be considered.
