Bachelor of Science (Hons) Computing with Games Development

As the games industry develops, it has become increasingly obvious that while conventional programming expertise is still relevant, the industry now requires a new range of skills that will push the acceptance of technology applications further. Focus on users is now paramount in stimulating their interest in today’s dynamic environment of widespread software / hardware availability.

The development of games is a challenge to us to utilise technology to engage and entice users out there. The use of models and graphics bring software development to a multi-sensory level that invigorates the perception of software solutions.

This degree allows students to study traditional computing whilst looking at some aspects of the exciting multimedia games development field which is generating millions of dollars over the last decade throughout the world.

Career opportunities exist in the games industry focused on the computing input into the development of modern interactive computer games. Additionally, many mainstream computing areas such as IT support and consultancy, and internet and e-commerce applications provide career paths for graduates of this course. Graduates can expect to work as independent consultants or in teams with other computer, multimedia and creative professionals to build and support modern games development.
