The School of Computing and Mathematical Sciences
(CMS) is an extremely successful part of the university
and the subject area of Computing Science at Greenwich
has been ranked above all other London new (post 1992)
universities in successive league tables (e.g. the
Times Good University Guide 2006 and the Guardian
University Guide 2003). The School is recognised both
nationally and internationally for its cutting edge
research and its innovative approach to curriculum
development.
The School has pioneered degree programmes in Computing,
Information Systems, Multimedia Technology, Interactive
Multimedia Games, Networking, Internet and Web Technologies,
Data Mining, Mathematics, Statistics, Decision Science
and Computational Science and Engineering. The School
offers some of the most up-to date, relevant and exciting
courses in traditional computing and computer science
as well as multimedia, internet and web technologies.
CMS’s research record is outstanding, focusing
on practical and important real-life problems. The
Fire Safety Engineering Group won the Queen's Anniversary
Prize for Higher Education in 2002, the top award
at the British Computer Society (BCS) IT Awards in
2001 and the European IST (Information Society Technologies)
Prize in 2003 for its EXODUS software.
