LJMU Summer School Degree Programme offers students
a unique opportunity to complete their degree by studying
one semester in Singapore and one final semester at
LJMU.
The LJMU Summer School is a comprehensive
programme, it includes not only the lectures and teaching
support in both Singapore and Liverpool, but also
all of the following:
The LJMU induction event will take place on the Monday
after you arrive. During the event you will:
• Be formally welcomed to LJMU;
• receive useful information on LJMU life, your
accommodation and life in Liverpool;
• meet academic and support staff;
• go on a guided tour of Liverpool;
• attend a photo shoot that will appear on the
LJMU website
The programme induction event will take place on the
Tuesday after you arrive. You will go to your individual
faculty for this, during the induction you will:
• Be formally welcomed to your programme;
• receive a programme induction with information
pack;
• meet academic and support staff;
• enrol on your course;
• receive a Learning Resource Centre /Computing
facilities induction
This is a wonderful opportunity for you to learn
more about what the City of Liverpool has to offer
and generally begin to become familiar with the surroundings
that will be your home for the duration of your course.
Students will be studying in LJMU Learning Resource
Centre:
• A purpose-built library
• 600 open access PCs
• Self-service printing stations
• 50,000 books
• 7,000 journals in print and electronic format
• Private study areas and seminar rooms
• IT facilities and CD ROMs
• Self-teaching English Language software
Students will be living in Marybone Halls, situated
opposite the Avril Robarts Resource Centre at the
top of Tithebarn Street, Liverpool. Marybone Projects
has shops, a lecture theatre and a medical centre
right on the doorstep.

• An on-site office and maintenance staff
• The complex includes shops and café
• 4-5 students in a flat, shared kitchen, telephone
in every room, rent inclusive of electricity and heating.

Students enjoy social events as part of their experience
of coming to Liverpool John Moores for their studies.
This includes a Welcome Party, tour of Liverpool,
visits to the theatre, and even Alton Towers theme
park.
One of the additional benefits of the Summer School
is that it provides you with an opportunity to investigate
your Postgraduate options. LJMU holds a Postgraduate
Fair at the end of July where they have presentations
from faculty staff on the Masters Programmes available,
advice on accommodation and welfare.
